Life is like a box a chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get. But Phantom guarantees you’ll get something heavenly, if you visit the eight greatest spots for chocolate lovers.
Kicking off the Great 8 is Chocolate Therapy in Framingham and Dedham. This unique chocolate shop takes decadent truffles and infuses them with healing powers. So if your blood pressure is high, you can nibble on a Pombom, filled with antioxidant rich pomegranate. If you have a headache, try a taste of their chocolate called The Cure. The products are all listed in a handy guide aimed to help soothe whatever ails you.
The Spot in Norwood is a bagel bakery, a sandwich shop, a convenience store, and a candy shop all rolled into one. If you want something chocolaty, fresh-baked, and truly over the top, order the Fluffernutter Bagel. It’s a toasted chocolate chip bagel topped with homemade fresh-ground peanut butter, Fluff and Nutella. It tastes as good as it sounds.
The Holy Donut
Another Great 8 winner is The Holy Donut in Portland, Maine. Customers line up at this one of a kind donut shop because their deep-fried beauties are unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. Each delicious, gourmet donut is made with a mashed potato base and they’re available in fun flavors like Coffee Brandy, savory Bacon and Cheddar, and for all you chocolate lovers – Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt.
Cakes By Erin
Cakes by Erin in Haverhill is the brainchild of the uber talented Erin Erler, who’s considered one of the top custom-cake bakers in the country. When she’s not making insane creations for celebrities like Conan O’Brien and Seth MacFarlane, she’s crafting indulgent treats like her Chocolate Death Roll. It triples the sweetness, featuring chocolate cake covered with chocolate buttercream, that’s rolled up, sliced, and covered with chocolate ganache.
Watch: Great 8 Chocolate, Part 2
Max Brenner on Boylston Street in Boston offers a menu of sweets, from do it yourself ice cream pops to huggable mugs of hot chocolate, to giant chocolate-filled syringes. There’s absolutely nothing ordinary about this over the top chocolate-themed restaurant. Each and every item on the menu, from drinks to dinner to dessert, has customers blown away.
Another Great 8 winner is Purefections in Quincy, a tiny chocolate shop that’s huge on indulgence. They offer high quality chocolate-dipped cookies, brownies, and strawberries. But customers have the biggest reaction to the P squared C squared, made with smooth chocolate, rich caramel, peanuts and potato sticks. Available in either dark or milk chocolate, it’s a salty sweet explosion in your mouth.
Yummies in Kittery, Maine packs over 10,000 pounds of candy and nuts into every sweet square inch. Anyone is bound to turn into a kid in a candy store here, especially when it comes to the overwhelming chocolate choices. You can find old fashioned chocolate bars, crunchy chocolate covered espresso beans, indulgent chocolate covered Oreos, even a shot of Jack Daniels, completely enrobed in delicious dark chocolate!
Rounding out the Great 8 is Cupcake City in Reading and Newton. This cute bake shop serves cupcakes that are big in flavor. When it comes to chocolate, they don’t mess around with creations like the Hot Fudge Sundae – spiked with chocolate chips in the batter; the dense and chocolaty S’mores – topped with a marshmallow frosting, and an elevated version of the Hostess cupcake.
