Newlyweds Injured In Boston Marathon Bombings Split

BOSTON (CBS) -- A couple injured in the Boston Marathon bombing and who later won an online contest for a 'dream wedding' are splitting after only 10 months of marriage, according to People.com.

Rebekah Gregory, 27, and Pete DiMartino, 30, were cheering on DiMartino's mother who was running the race when they were both injured in the attacks.

Gregory told People.com the decision to separate was made around November 2014, shortly after her leg was amputated.

"Over the last several months I've come to realize that going through such a horrific event together put a fast-forward on our relationship that we each handled differently," Gregory told People.com.

Gregory and DiMartino got married in April 2014 in a remarkable way. They were awarded a 'dream wedding' by the wedding website TheKnot.com. Every aspect of their wedding, including Gregory's dress, the wedding location, and the couples first dance were chosen by readers.

The couple was also featured on the season finale of TLC's wedding show, "Say Yes To The Dress."

Gregory is training to run the 2015 Boston Marathon in April.
