Tires Fly Off Truck, Smash Through Windshield On Route 24 In Randolph

RANDOLPH (CBS) - A truck's two front tires flew off and smashed into the windshield of the car behind while driving on Route 24 southbound in Randolph, according to State Police.

According to State Police, the truck's rear axle became loose causing the tires to come off.

The incident occurred before just before Exit 20.

The black sedan also sustained significant damage to the hood which was caved in.

Myriam Bazile, the driver of the car, was not hurt.

"I was so scared. I see the wheel come in, flying in the air and come in (toward) my face," she said.

Bazile was traveling with her 79-year-old mother when the wheels came off of a white box truck and one struck her vehicle. Her mother suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The driver recalled what she did after the windshield shattered.

"I couldn't see anything," she said. "The only thing I did (was) I put (on) my right signal and pulled over...I was a little shaky.

"God was with me."

She added that she planned to play the lottery after escaping unharmed.
