Former Movie Set, Roofs Collapse Under Weight Of Snow
BOSTON (CBS) -- Roofs buckled and a partial collapse was reported at the former set of a Disney movie shot in Quincy Monday morning as an unprecedented amount of snow piled up in Massachusetts.
The old set of "The Finest Hours" suffered a partial collapse at the old Quincy shipyard on East Howard Street, Quincy police said. No one was inside the building at the time, but a gas line did break.
The movie starring Chris Pine and Casey Affleck is set to hit theaters in October 2015 and tells the story of Coast Guardsmen rescuing the crew of an oil tanker wrecked off Cape Cod during a 1952 blizzard.
Casey Sherman, who wrote the book the movie is based on, told WBZ-TV shooting finished in December and that the actors are "long gone" from the area.
State officials have been warning of possible roof collapses as some parts of the region have seen up to 80 inches of snow in a 14-day period.

No one was hurt inside an old manufacturing plant on Hale Street in Bridgewater when the roof collapsed. The building stores antifreeze, and fire officials were notified after a sprinkler went off.
"People were just reporting to work," Bridgewater Fire Chief George Rogers said. "This is our second collapse in a week."
On Weymouth Street in Rockland, a multi-use commercial building collapsed under the weight of snow, firefighters said.
A gas leak was reported, but occupants made it out safely.
