Brockton Woman And Daughter Found Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide
BROCKTON (CBS) – A 32-year-old mother and her 9-year-old daughter were found dead inside on a home on Morgan Street in Brockon. The Plymouth County District Attorney will only say it is a homicide investigation, but family members say they have been told by police it is a murder-suicide.
The bodies of 32-year-old Ariana Rosa-Soares and her 9-year-old daughter Marlena were founding hanging together in the basement. "I don't know only Jesus knows," said her father Jose Rosa.
The bodies were discovered Friday morning by a friend who had been watching Rosa-Soares' other 11-year-old daughter. Now family and friends are trying to understand what happened.
Friend Claudia Gomes says the mother has had suicidal thoughts and marital trouble in the past. "She's been through a lot, she's stressed out. I'm always talking to her, but I didn't think it would come to this point."
Jose Rosa says he was trying to get his daughter help for mental health issues. "They ignored me. I even went down to the church for help and they ignored me," he tells WBZ-TV.
District attorney Timothy Cruz says a note was left behind with writings that are being investigated. It all comes as a shock to those who know Ariana Rosa-Soares as a hard working nurses assistant.
"She works two jobs, takes care of her kids and gives them everything," said Gomes. Autopsies will be conducted and the district attorney says the fathers of the two children have been contacted and are cooperating with the investigation.
