Judge Settling On Final Juror Pool For Aaron Hernandez Trial
FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — The Massachusetts judge overseeing the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez is expected to settle on a final pool of several dozen prospective jurors.
Around 50 people were in the final pool Friday morning, and Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh planned to add more following questioning throughout the day.
Garsh has spent more than a week questioning potential jurors to weed out people who are biased, have a hardship or have a valid reason to be excused. More than 1,000 people were originally called.
Lawyers from both sides are expected to have the chance Monday to eliminate 18 people each from the final pool.
Eighteen jurors will be seated.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to killing 27-year-old semiprofessional football player Odin Lloyd in 2013.
