Wareham Man Charged With Trafficking Meth
WAREHAM (CBS) - A Wareham man charged with trafficking more than 200 grams of suspected methamphetamine was arraigned Friday.
Evan Lopes, 26, was arrested on Thursday after policed allegedly seized more than 2,200 grams of methamphetamine from under a large pile of wood outside an East Wareham home.
He was arraigned in Wareham District Court and ordered held on $50,000 bail.
The investigation began in mid-2014, and police arrested David Landry on multiple counts of heroin trafficking in September. He has been held on $150,000 bail at Barnstable House of Correction.
Since Landry's arrest, investigators have found evidence linking other individuals to the trafficking operation.
Officers from several different agencies received and executed two search warrants-one at a Village Drive home in Bourne and another at a Point Pleasant Circle residence in East Wareham.
Several ounces of marijuana and more than $7,000 were recovered from the Bourne home, while roughly 2,200 grams of suspected methamphetamine, with a street value of more than $200,000, were seized from Lopes' East Wareham residence, investigators allege.
Last week, police raided a Cheryl Lane home in Bourne associated with the Landry investigation and found a "sophisticated" hydroponic marijuana grow operation inside the residence.
Justin Groom, 25, of Bourne, was arrested after detectives seized about $50,000 worth of drug equipment, $5,500 in cash and more than $35,000 in marijuana and has oil.
Derek Locurto, 29, of Bourne, will face a future charge of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, police say.
