Socci On AFCCG: Rematch Always Tough, But Patriots Positioned Well To Beat Colts

BOSTON (CBS) - In beating the Baltimore Ravens Saturday night, the New England Patriots advanced to the AFC Championship game, where they'll take on the Indianapolis Colts and rising star Andrew Luck.

New England faced the Colts in Indy earlier this season, where the Patriots handed them a convincing 42-20 loss.

Luck's Colts haven't had much luck against Bill Belichick's Patriots, but that doesn't mean the Pats will have an easy road to Glendale. The voice of the Patriots Bob Socci called 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich Monday morning to weigh in on the Ravens win, and also preview the Colts rematch.

Socci is not taking Indy lightly. However, he believes the Patriots will emerge victorious.

"Andrew Luck and the Colts are going to come in here with tremendous confidence, obviously having just gone to Denver and beating the Broncos. This is a special talent in Andrew Luck, but we saw a couple cases yesterday where he still makes a couple of questionable decisions; he's going to have to play a perfect game against the Patriots," Socci told T&R.

"But rematch games are extremely difficult. Go back to the middle of the regular season, and in a lot of ways it's irrelevant. I think the Patriots, having withstood Baltimore and weathering that storm, they are in a good position here. You can't ask for anything better than to be at home in the AFC Championship against a team you've really dominated the last three meetings."
