Report: Celtics Tell Brandan Wright He Should Expect To Be Traded

BOSTON (CBS) -- Brandan Wright has only been a member of the Celtics for just over three weeks, and his stay in Boston may not last much longer.

Wright, acquired on December 18 in the package Boston received from Dallas for point guard Rajon Rondo, has reportedly been told that he will be traded. The story was first reported by Comcast SportsNet in Washington D.C..

The Celtics made the Rondo trade when they did so they would still be able to trade any players they acquired in the deal, picking up more assets for the future in the process.

Wright has seen his minutes dip from 18.7 per game to 10.7 per game since coming to Boston, and was a healthy DNP in Boston's win over the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. He averaged 8.8 points on 75 percent shooting off the Mavericks' bench, but has seen his numbers dip to just 3.3 points on 57 percent shooting in his eight games with Boston.

Ainge should be able to get something in return for the 27-year-old Wright, who will be a free agent after this season (though it's unlikely he'll land two first round picks, like the Nuggets received from the Cavaliers for big-man Timofey Mozgov). The report notes that he could be included in a package with forward Jeff Green, whose name appeared in trade rumors earlier this week, with the Wizards a team who could be in the mix.

The report also said that Nelson could be bought out of his current contract by the Celtics, and Washington could be a landing spot for the veteran guard.
