Allegedly Stolen Dog Returned To Elderly Dorchester Man

BOSTON (CBS) – A dog allegedly stolen from a Dorchester man's home on Christmas was returned Saturday morning.

John F. MacPherson said his 26-pound Shetland Sheepdog named Daisy was taken from his home at about 3 p.m. on Christmas.

MacPherson said he had just let Daisy out into a fenced in area on Sumner Street, but she did not return into the house.

On Saturday, the dog was back in the yard of MacPherson, an 88-year-old World War II veteran who has a second dog named Big Boy.

John D. MacPherson, the man's youngest son, said the family doesn't plan to ask questions about how Daisy was returned to the yard.

"I'm just glad that the person grew a conscience and did the right thing. We're not going to be bitter towards them. We're just happy the dog was returned safe," he said.

"Now the dog is happy, the other dog is happy, my father is happy. And that makes me happy."
