Thieves Steal $35,000 From Merrimac Home

MERRIMAC (CBS) – A Merrimac family's Christmas was spent worrying about the three suspects still on the loose after terrorizing and robbing a 65-year-old woman in her own home.

The victim's son-in-law says she was also roughed up.

"She was terrified, crying and shaking," said Jamie Forcino.

The victim did not want to speak on camera, but she did get a good look at a suspect, one of three young white men who pushed their way inside demanding she open up a safe late Tuesday night.

"They pushed her inside of her house, demanded that she go to her safe, and give them whatever money she had in the safe," Forcino said. "After she handed them the money, they pushed her into the shower and left her with some bruising."

She operates a jewelry business out of the house and says the thieves stole $35,000.

"I think it's someone that had information about her house," Forcino said.

The family believes the robbers seemed to know the layout of the house. It's one of many clues the police are looking into.

The robbery leaves a longtime businesswoman bruised and also mentally scarred.

The three suspects are described as being white men in their late 20s to early 30s.
