No charges are currently pending, police said, and the driver involved stopped immediately at the scene.

Witness Michael Rosetti rushed to help. He told WBZ-TV’s Julie Loncich that he rolled the man over and tried to revive him.

“I figured anything was better than nothing,” said Rosetti. “Everybody was just standing on the side of the road looking.”

“It’s a tragedy. Christmas Eve,” said witness Diane DiGiacamo.

A white BMW had visible damage to the passenger side near the vehicle’s headlight.

The female driver of the BMW stopped, according to police. Witnesses say the woman had two young children in the car and was visibly upset.

“What a terrible, terrible thing to happen on Christmas Eve. Lost somebody and there was nothing I could do about it,” said Rosetti.
