Boston College, Football Coach Steve Addazio Agree To Extension

BOSTON (CBS) - With college coaching vacancies and hirings always in flux, the Boston College Eagles just guaranteed themselves some level of certainty in regards to their football program.

Head football coach Steve Addazio and the university have come to terms on a contract extension through 2020, the school announced Thursday. There had been some rumors that the University of Michigan was gauging Addazio's interest for their vacancy.

In 2012 under Frank Spaziani, the Eagles bottomed out and ended the year 2-10. In Addazio's first season in 2013, the Eagles finished 7-6

Currently 7-5, the 2014 Eagles have the chance to finish with eight wins for the first time since 2009 when they travel down I-95 to take on Penn State in the Pinstripe Bowl on December 27 at Yankee Stadium.

Addazio is 27-22 all-time as a head coach, which includes a two-year run at Temple. His previous coaching stops include Florida, Indiana, Notre Dame and Syracuse.
