Reports: Patriots To Place Dominique Easley On Injured Reserve

BOSTON (CBS) -- The season appears to be over for Patriots rookie Dominique Easley.

New England will reportedly put their 2014 first round pick on the injured reserve, according to The NFL Network's Ian Rappoport. The hope is this early end to 2014 will put him in a better spot for next season.

Easley has seen the field in 11 games this season, but has struggled to stay healthy. He missed the beginning of training camp while recovering from ACL surgery he underwent prior to the draft, and has been held out of the occasional practice throughout the season. He also missed games against the Buffalo Bills (Week 6) and Detroit Lions (Week 11), and was inactive for last Sunday's win over the Miami Dolphins with a knee issue.

The defensive lineman was told to start preparing for 2015 at some point last week, according to The Boston Herald's Jeff Howe.

For the season, Easley has recorded 10 tackles, a sack and an interception for New England.
