Fairhaven Man To Keep Job At RMV After $1M Lottery Win

BOSTON (CBS) - You may think Tom Brady is a lucky guy, but his number 12 was also lucky for a Registry worker.

Last Sunday, during the halftime of the Patriots' game, Ernie Tomascik was the contestant in the Lottery's Instant Ticket Second Chance Game.

Tomascik had to choose from 24 Patriots numbers, some being worth a few thousand dollars, but two were worth one million dollars.

He chose #12 and won a million dollars. But the money won't change the Registry road examiner. "Well, there's taxes, and my wife wants to remodel the house, so after that, it's not like I'm going to be a millionaire," says Tomascik.

Ernie says he plans to keep on working, but with a new attitude each morning. "I'm going to come to work because I want to, not because I have to," Tomascik says. "Which is a good feeling."

When his boss found out he won a million dollars, he asked Ernie if he needed the day off to claim his prize. He refused, saying he just needed an hour to get the check.

File this under "got his head on straight."
