Felger: Revolution Gagged Away MLS Cup -- Again!

BOSTON (CBS) - Unable to complain much about the New England Patriots, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Felger & Massarotti took aim at the other team who calls Gillette Stadium home on Monday.

The Revolution lost 2-1 in extra time to the Los Angeles Galaxy in Sunday's MLS Cup -- the fifth time they've reached and lost the league's premiere match.

Mike Felger in particular had some choice words to say about the hometown team.

"They choked," he said bluntly. "They gagged. Robbie Keane? The guy who scored the game-winner for the Galaxy? He's the league MVP. Have you seen the play? You're in extra time. Nine minutes left in a 120-minute soccer match. You are at crunch time for the freaking championship, and you let the best player in the league that wide open over the top?"

Felger acknowledged the Revs were definitely the underdog in the match, having to travel to California to take on the Galaxy in their home stadium. He also acknowledged the prowess of Los Angeles, who have now won the most MLS Cups of any club in the league.

He still just can't come to grips or understand that deciding play.

"It would be like playing the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals in overtime, and deciding not to cover Sidney Crosby on a breakaway just sitting there cherry-picking at center ice. That would sort of be the equivalent," said Felger. "Do you know what that is? A choke. They gagged -- again! They deserve credit for even being in the match, because the Galaxy are probably a better team and it's in their building. But you can't let the MVP be all alone on that goal!"

Felger was also very critical of Revs midfielder and MVP-finalist Lee Nguyen.

"I thought Lee Nguyen was bad. I thought I was watching Michael Bradley out there for the US. His touches were off and he couldn't connect with anybody. I thought he stunk. Both teams played sloppily."

Despite the loss, we were all fortunate enough to have witnessed this, which was pretty funny:
