Car Struck By Commuter Rail Train In Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE (CBS) -- A commuter rail train slammed into a car that was stopped on the tracks in Cambridge Saturday night.

According to MBTA Police, the 28-year-old female driver thought she was turning into a parking lot, but instead drove down the rail tracks. When she realized where she was, she tried to back out of the tracks but was stuck.

She got out of the car before an oncoming Fitchburg/South Acton commuter rail line train crashed into it. The car was dragged about 100 feet.

Police said no charges will be brought against the driver.
