Jeep Flips Into Sharon Cranberry Bog; Driver Charged With Trespassing

SHARON (CBS) -- A local man and his friend had a bad experience with cranberries over the weekend, and it had nothing to do with Thanksgiving leftovers.

On Sunday, Sharon police responded to the cranberry bogs across from Shaw's Plaza for a report of a Jeep that had flipped over in the bogs. They found the owner of the Jeep stuck waist-deep in the bog, according to a police Facebook post.

The owner, a Sharon resident, told police that he and a friend were looking for deer when they got into the accident. He also said his friend and a dog remained trapped inside the Jeep.

Firefighters were able to rescue everyone from the bog, and the driver and his friend were taken to Norwood Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police also noted that the Jeep must have drove around gates built to keep people from trespassing.

"So… not only did the car overturn in the bogs, but now both individuals (we will let the dog pass) will be charged with trespassing," police said.
