ATHOL (CBS) – A different kind of bird found its way into the hands of humans the day before Turkey Day.

Fortunately, however, the story ends well for this bird.

An owl flew into the side of a State Police cruiser while traveling down on Route 2 in Athol early Wednesday morning, according to police.

Trooper Matthew Cesvette stopped his cruiser to check on the owl, who was laying on the ground stunned. Cesvette swaddled the owl in a blanket and brought it to the barracks.

Cesvette contacted the Environmental Police, who plan to check the owl for any injuries and release it back into the wild.
