3 Arrested After Wild Chase From Mass. Into New Hampshire
PELHAM, N.H. (CBS) – Three people were arrested early Wednesday morning after a wild chase that started in Massachusetts ended in New Hampshire.
It started around 11 p.m. when Pelham, New Hampshire police were told that Tewksbury and Massachusetts State Police were pursuing a white van that was stolen in Billerica.
The van crossed the state line into Pelham and police there set up stop sticks to slow it down, but that failed.
The chase carried on into Windham and then back into Pelham. Another attempt with stop sticks worked and the van's tires were blown.
The driver, identified by police as 30-year-old Michael Steele of Wakefield, ran off. He was found about 45 minutes later, but officers say he kicked a Massachusetts State police K9 as they arrested him.
He was taken to Parkland Medical Center for treatment of a leg injury.
Two other people in the van Erin Casoli, 32, of Saugus, and Michael LaCrosse, 32, of Woburn, were arrested at the scene. They're charged with receiving stolen property.
Steele is charged with receiving stolen property, operating after suspension, disobeying an officer, resisting arrest, willful interference with police dogs and being a fugitive from justice.
The van was impounded and will be searched for additional stolen property.
No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
