AMHERST, Mass. (CBS) – Officials at the University of Massachusetts Amherst are warning students about reports of a man attempting to look at, and possibly photograph, women while they are showering.

UMass police said in a campus alert they have received four reports from John Adams residence hall since September, all describing similar incidents.

Officials said when the first incident was reported, it was treated as an isolated incident. But after three more similar reports, police decided to alert the campus.

During the incidents, a white man was seen looking under shower partitions on the third and sixth floors. Two women told police they saw the man holding a black iPhone, which they believe he was using to take photographs or video of them.

“Female residents are advised to remain aware of their surroundings and to contact UMPD if they observe or are aware of similar situations,” police said in the campus alert.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call UMass police at (413) 545-2121 or submit a tip online.
