Patriots All Access Preview: Tom Brady Blocks Out All The External Noise

BOSTON (CBS) -- After a 2-2 start and an embarrassing 41-14 loss on Monday Night Football, there was plenty of chatter on the airwaves about the New England Patriots.

Some said they were toast -- heck, even their owner was a little nervous. Others said it was time to think about life after Tom Brady, even bringing up the potential for an offseason trade of No. 12 (it remains possible, but the talk was a bit premature). The noise was deafening at times, and likely led to a migraine or two among fans.

But what about the Patriots themselves? They're certainly a team that doesn't mind a little bulletin board material to give them that extra chip on their shoulders, but when all that noise is coming from their own backyard, it has to be a little different, right?

Turns out that is not the case. All that chatter after their Week 4 loss in Kansas City was just white noise to Tom Brady and his teammates -- even all that wild and crazy trade talk.

Brady, who sat down with Scott Zolak for Friday night's Patriots All Access on WBZ-TV, said very little attention was paid to all that external noise, especially on his front.

"Not much. Truthfully I've been treated so well for so long," he said. "I mean, 15 years and no one has really said anything bad about me. I've been really fortunate and we've been able to turn things around when things haven't gone well in the past."

Since that loss to the Chiefs, the Patriots have won five straight and are the top team in the AFC with a 7-2 record. Still, the team remains humble and is always looking to improve on the field.

"We put ourselves in a decent position. Coach always says seven wins won't get you anything in the NFL, which is true. We have a whole season ahead of us, and we have to get better," said Brady. "It probably feels like we're 2-7 and not 7-2 around here. Even when we win, we find ways to nitpick, but in a positive way. We're trying to make improvements, trying to get better and be our best every week. That's what it takes in order to achieve the success. You don't win and go 'We got all these problems solved, let's move on to next week.' We're trying to figure out ways to get better."
