Faneuil Hall Tree Arrives In Boston
BOSTON (CBS) -- A giant symbol of the holiday season has pulled into Faneuil Hall.
The huge Norwegian spruce arrived on a flatbed truck Thursday afternoon. The 90-foot tall tree is from Saint James on New York's Long Island. It traveled several highways and even took a ferry ride before arriving in Boston.
Thursday's rain couldn't dampen the excitement for the annual tradition.
"When I see the tree roll in like this, it just brings the whole holiday spirit to life," said Ed Hurley of Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
You can watch the tree lighting ceremony on Saturday Nov. 22, at 8 p.m., live on WBZ-TV. It will be rebroadcast on myTV38 (WSBK-TV) from 10:00p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The "Faneuil Hall Tree Lighting Spectacular" will be co-hosted by WBZ-TV News anchors Lisa Hughes and David Wade and include segments by WBZ-TV Sports Director Steve Burton, Chief Meteorologist Eric Fisher, as well as anchors Paula Ebben and Jonathan Elias.
It will also feature a reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" by Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh. The program will also feature holiday musical performances by the Tanglewood Festival Chorus conducted by Maestro Keith Lockhart, Jilly Martin from Boston Idol, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer: The Musical and a performance of The Nutcracker by the Boston Ballet and the Sugarbabies Band.
