Felger: London Finally Makes Sense For NFL

BOSTON (CBS) - Waking up Sunday morning to watch the Lions play the Falcons was actually kind of cool.

"It was borderline orgasmic," 98.5 The Sports Hub's Mike Felger said to lead the discussion Monday afternoon. "It was glorious. It was actually the first time I felt good about playing football in London. That's the first time it made sense to me. That was terrific. Would you rather watch that or Shannon Sharpe babbling some nonsense?"

"It was pretty good," added a less-enthused, but still positive Tony Massarotti.

"I like the morning sporting events. I'm sort of used to it with Olympic hockey and stuff. USA-Russia? Wake up and let's go! Or waking up and watching Premier League soccer? I do that from time to time. I love those morning games. You wake up yesterday morning and there's a football game! I loved it!"

Judging by the coverage and positive feedback, plenty of other people loved it too.

"You can sell the morning package. You have Thursday night, you have Sunday afternoon, you have Sunday night, you have Monday night and now you have Sunday morning football. And you bring in some other clown, some other rights owner to pay you $18 billion for eight London Fog games at 9:30 in the morning," said Felger, even coming up with the name of the franchise.

However, Felger thinks for the NFL to really take off overseas, then "You've got to give the Brits a team," rather than just rotating all the current stateside teams through Wembley.

"That's the window. 9:30am. Breakfast With The NFL -- you can come up with all sorts of crap and sell the bejeezus out of it!"

"I do have to say. There was something nice about watching football on the sofa with the newspaper, a coffee and a nice scone or two," added Tony Mazz.

If that's the NFL's plan for London, then Mike Felger is all for it.
