Rich Keefe's Fantasy Brief: Week 8 QB Start 'Em, Sit 'Em

BOSTON (CBS) - By now your fantasy league's waiver wire period is over, so now you're looking for advice on who to start and who to sit in Week 8, starting with Thursday night's matchup between Denver and San Diego.

Rich Keefe has you covered!

Wednesday night on 98.5 The Sports Hub, Rich Keefe provided two quarterbacks to start and two quarterbacks to sit this week.

Start 'Em

"Smith has thrown only four interceptions all season, and three of them came in Week 1. He's not usually a fantasy stud, but he's at home against the St. Louis Rams. They're right at the bottom of the league. They give up a lot of passing yards. The Rams defense has given up at least two passing touchdowns in every game but one. I think that's a good matchup for him, and he's at home. I like Kansas City."

"He was injured, so he's only played in three games. He's played three games and missed three games. He's thrown two touchdowns in each of the three games he has played in and only two interceptions. In leagues where passing touchdowns are six points, he's gotten over 20 points in each of those three games. Throw that into the mix with a Philly defense, who was very good two weeks ago, but prior to that they've allowed two or three touchdown passes in every game. Philadelphia was on the bye last week, now they've got to travel to Arizona. I think Palmer has a pretty good matchup."

Sit 'Em

Matt Stafford

"I don't have a lot of evidence to back this up, but the London game is always crap. Maybe I just don't like teams going over to London. I just don't care for it. Stafford had a decent bounce back week last week. He was just shy of 300 yards and had a couple touchdowns passes. The two weeks before he was not very good against Minnesota and against Buffalo. Again, I don't like the travel going over to London, and Atlanta has been in the top half against quarterbacks. Throw in the Calvin Johnson (ankle) factor, and that's the main thing. Lot of uncertainty."

Matt Ryan

"Detroit's defense has been terrific. In fact, they have been the best against opposing quarterbacks in fantasy football. And Matt Ryan has also not been playing particularly well. This has not been a great season for Matty Ice. The last three weeks he's thrown for just one touchdown in each game. He lost a fumble last week, and he's only had two games without a turnover through seven weeks. Matt Ryan hasn't been great, so you throw in the Detroit defense in London, and I just don't care for it."
