Police: SWAT Team Responds To Manchester, N.H., For False Hostage Allegations

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – Police and a SWAT team were called Friday to a Manchester, N.H., home for a situation officers said involved multiple people, though police determined that allegations of a hostage situation did not have any merit.

Just before noon on Friday, Manchester police confirmed that they were on scene at 279 Concord Street.

As a precaution, nearby Manchester Central High School was placed in lockdown.

At about 12:30 p.m., Manchester Police Sgt. Brian N. O'Keefe said that one person was in custody and the situation was over.

O'Keefe added later in the afternoon that three people were taken into custody, but none were arrested or charged.

"No arrests were made because no crimes were committed," O'Keefe said.

Police said that the reporting party may face charges for making a false report to law enforcement.
