Second Woman Reports Sex Assault At Massasoit In Brockton

BROCKTON (CBS) – A second woman has reported being sexually assaulted at Massasoit Community College in Brockton.

She says on Monday morning, a man who identified himself as a first year student attacked her in the hallway of the business building. The victim did not know the man.

Another woman reported a sex assault on campus that happened on Friday afternoon. That woman said she knew the man who attacked her. Prior to the alleged assault, the victim encountered him on campus on several occasions where he identified himself as a Massasoit student.

Many students said they were shocked and nervous by the attacks. Several women said they were no longer walking alone and no longer parking in the lot by the first attack.

Campus police officers were handing out packets of safety information to students Tuesday evening. The packets included safety tips, dating safety tips and steps sexual assault victims should take to report the crime.

Massasoit officers also have additional patrols and details throughout the campus. Tuesday evening they were making their presence obvious on foot, on bike and in vehicles.

In both attacks, the suspect is described as an African American male of thin build, about 5'7" in height, with short, black hair. Police could not confirm if they think it is the same man in both attacks. They also said they were not sure if he was even a student.

The Massasoit Community College Police Department and Brockton Police Department are actively investigating the assaults.

WBZ-TV's Katie Brace contributed to this report.
