Severe Thunderstorms Roll Across Mass. Causing Damage

BOSTON (CBS) - Severe thunderstorms rolled across Massachusetts on Saturday causing damage to several areas.

Police in Lawrence reported flooding and trees down on several streets, while lightning struck the Thorndike Factory smokestack in Lowell. The manager of a Dunkin Donuts at Merrimack College in North Andover was struck by lightning and taken to a hospital, according to a school spokesman. The manager was conscious and alert when he was taken to the hospital.

Cambridge, Wilmington and Billerica also reported downed trees.

Boston Calling, a music festival being held at Boston City Hall, was delayed mid-show but it later resumed.

A tornado warning issued before the thunderstorms for Essex and Middlesex counties as well as Hillsborough County in New Hampshire last a little more than an hour before being dropped.
