Vandals Damage 19 Headstones At Auburn Cemetery

AUBURN (CBS) - The search is on for vandals who damaged 19 headstones at Worcester Hebrew Cemetery in Auburn.

"It's hurtful, anger," Lewis Lasky tells WBZ standing over the toppled gravestone of his parents.

Some were knocked off foundations, others broken in half and some hit one by one like dominoes.

"It's very offensive," said Jordan Robbins, the volunteer who oversees the cemetery. "I don't understand where the parental guidance is."

It's the fifth time in as many years the cemetery has been hit, most recently just six weeks ago. Last Labor Day vandals also burned down a storage shed.

A $500 reward is being offered for information. Damage is estimated to be $15,000 with at least three headstones needing to be replaced altogether.
