Brighton's Imperial Pizza Shop Closes Its Doors

BOSTON (CBS) – This is Joe Greco's forte. He's been expertly pulling and kneading the dough, making perfect pizzas for nearly 50 years.

And now, he's tired.

"I want to retire. I'm too tired to work," Greco said.

Joe's retirement means the closing of a Brighton institution. Imperial Pizza is closing its doors.
But not before customers get one more bite of Joe Greco's pies.

They are willing to wait hours for a pizza.

"You don't get pizza like this very often. It's made with love and passion and you can taste it in every slice. It's fantastic," said Robert Falcione.

And that's the secret ingredient.

"When you work in a place, people love you. I love everybody. People very nice," said Greco.

It means Joe isn't taking the easy road to retirement.

"I have a lot of pizza to make. And I am out of dough. So, I'm waiting for the dough to rise so I can make more pizzas," Greco said.

Churning out one pie after another until the dough runs out.

"So when I finish the day, I am leaving," Greco said.

Tomorrow - the easy life.

"Be a beach bum," Greco said.

But for one final day, Joe Greco is pleasing the palates of a loyal Brighton following.
