Fenway Park Offering Free Bicycle Valet For Red Sox Games This Weekend

BOSTON (CBS) - Parking will be free and easy at Fenway Park this weekend... as long as you're riding a bicycle.

The Red Sox and MassBike are trialing a free bicycle valet service for ticket holders for the July 19 and 20 games, and may expand it in the future.

"We're excited to team up with MassBike to offer this convenient and secure service to our fans," Christopher Knight, Manager of Facilities Services & Planning said in a news release. "We encourage fans to 'Bike to the Ballpark' during their next visit to Fenway Park and enjoy the health and environmental benefits of bicycling."

MassBike will oversee operations for the valet service. Bikes will be organized and kept in a secure, fenced-off area, and cyclists will need claim checks to retrieve their bikes.

"Biking is the fastest way to get in and out of Fenway at game time, and once people see how fun and easy it is, they are more likely to make bicycling a regular transportation choice," MassBike Executive Director David Watson added.

The bike valet will be located outside Gate D on the corner of Yawkey Way and Van Ness Street. The service will open two hours prior to game time and close one hour after the game ends.

For more information on the Fenway Park Bike Valet, contact Christopher Knight, Boston Red Sox at 617-226-6121.

If you are interested in volunteering for either day, please email nathaniel@massbike.org.
