22-Year-Old Eats 53 Hot Dogs, Sets Boston Record At Phantom Gourmet's BBQ Fest

BOSTON (CBS) - It wasn't just BBQ and music at the Phantom Gourmet BBQ and Music Festival on Saturday.

Matt Stonie, A 22-year-old from San Jose, California managed to devour 53 hot dogs in 10 minutes to win a professional eating contest. It was a Boston record.

There was less competition in the women's contest. Nicki Pulig took the win with just 7.5 dogs.

The race was a qualifier for the world famous Nathan's July 4th International Hot Dog Eating Championship.

There, Stonie, who is ranked second in the world on the competitive eating circuit, will likely have to face fellow American Joey Chestnut, who set the world record in 2013 by eating 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes.
