WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Receives 2014 National Edward R. Murrow Award

BOSTON (CBS) - WBZ NewsRadio 1030 has received a prestigious 2014 National Edward R. Murrow Award presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA).

The award for excellence in "Continuing Coverage" was for the station's reporting of the Boston Marathon Bombings and the week long manhunt.

WBZ NewsRadio was judged in the Large Market Radio division.

The awards were announced Wednesday by the RTDNA, which has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971.

"I thank the WBZ staff for the many contributions to the excellent work and exhausting effort that was displayed during that week," said Peter Casey, WBZ NewsRadio's News and Programming Director.

Casey added, "The news team should be proud of the recognition by their industry peers. The entry submitted by WBZ included work from our newscasts, talk shows, production, writers, anchors, producers, and editors. In short, it was an entire team effort covering a story that was deeply personal and impactful to the City of Boston."
