7 Killed After Jet Goes Off Runway On Takeoff From Hanscom Field In Bedford

BEDFORD (CBS) – Seven people are dead after a small jet caught fire after going off the runway on takeoff from Hanscom Field in Bedford just after 9:30 Saturday night, the FAA reports.

The names of the victims have not yet been released.

The private jet, a Gulfstream IV, went off runway 11 in a wooded area, the FAA said.

It was headed to Atlantic City International Airport in New Jersey.

Massport emergency personnel were responding to the accident.

Bedford police said a hazardous materials team was also on scene at Hanscom.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board ares continuing to investigate. The NTSB will determine the probable cause of the accident.
