Young Belmont Cyclists Pedal To Fight Cancer In Pan Mass Challenge Kids Ride
BELMONT (CBS) – A group of 150 kids in Belmont rode their bikes for cancer research Sunday in the Pan Mass Challenge kids ride.
The young cyclists ages 3 to 12 pedaled various distances around the Belmont Hill School with a goal of raising $25,000.
The ride is in memory of Belmont Hill School teacher Cliff Goodband, who died of bone and lung cancer in 2010, and Maya Edwards, a local student who died of leukemia at the of age 13.
Goodband's seven grandchildren rode for the second consecutive year in his memory and eight Belmont High School students who volunteered for the inaugural ride as sixth graders with their Girl Scout troop, returned as volunteers as a tribute to their late friend Maya.
