Marathon Bombing Suspect's Defense Team Asks New Deadlines For Feds
BOSTON (AP) — Lawyers for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev say they remain concerned about being "adequately prepared" for a November trial in his death penalty case.
Tsarnaev has pleaded not guilty to 30 federal charges.
In federal court filings Wednesday, the defense and prosecutors proposed deadlines for each side to give the other pretrial material. The defense asks to get the government's experts reports earlier, while prosecutors say both sides should have the same deadlines.
Prosecutors also responded to a defense request to allow Tsarnaev prison visits from his sisters without an FBI agent present. They proposed substituting an agent who isn't part of the prosecution team.
Prosecutors allege Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan placed bombs near the finish line of last year's marathon, killing three people. Tamerlan died after a shootout with police.
