CHESTNUT HILL (CBS) –  Wegman’s second store in Massachusetts opens this weekend and traffic around it is expected to be a nightmare.

The popular supermarket chain will open its store on Route 9 across the from The Mall at Chestnut Hill Sunday morning.

Newton, Brookline and State Police are preparing for possible gridlock in the already heavily-congested area.

Signs have been installed along Route 9 to warn drivers of possible delays.

Wegman’s opened its first store in Massachusetts in Northboro in 2011.

A third store will open in Burlington in the fall.

That will be followed by markets in Westwood and the Fenway.
