Mass. Man Dies In NH Tractor-Trailer Crash

CHESTERFIELD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire State Police say the driver of a tractor trailer unit has died after it slid into a snow-covered embankment in Chesterfield.

The 53-year-old man from Massachusetts was westbound on Route 9 on Wednesday when the trailer started to slide due to icy road conditions. Police said he tried to leave on the driver's side, but ended up getting pinned underneath the vehicle and died at the scene.

Police said the unit came to rest on the westbound shoulder with the tractor portion facing east and the trailer portion facing northwest.

The driver's name has not been released pending notification of family.

Police are still investigating the accident.
