Suspect's Friend Says Tsarnaev Destroyed Cell Phone Before Arrest

The lawyer for Dias Kadyrbayev disclosed the information at a hearing Monday for three friends charged with trying to help Tsarnaev after the attack.

The defense lawyers wanted prosecutors to turn over records of Tsarnaev's communications with the three men as well as anyone else.

A prosecutor said communications with the three men have been turned over. The judge ruled that any other communication was not relevant.

Kadyrbayev and another man are charged with removing a laptop and a backpack containing fireworks from Tsarnaev's college dorm room after the bombing. Another man is accused of lying to investigators.

All pleaded not guilty.
