St. Pat's Weekend: Free Europe, Spring Training Trips; Irish Bars & Taste Of Iceland
BOSTON (CBS) – What do the lands of Vikings, Leprechauns and Sunshine all have in common? They're part of some fun goings-on and giveaways in Boston this coming St. Patrick's Day weekend. And since many of you are quite sick of New England winter, we figured we'd clue you in on a few ways to escape.
From Thursday through Saturday, Icelandair is holding a #TicketAwesome contest, where they will be stashing pairs of round-trip plane tickets around Boston. The tickets are good for any destination that Icelandair flies to in Europe.
They'll also be giving away a bunch of other prizes around the city, and will drop clues about the location of those tickets via their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
On the Friday before St. Patrick's Day, The Green Briar in Brighton, in collaboration with Guinness and 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey, is giving away a trip to Ireland. Basically, you just sign up here and show up at the 11th annual "Send Me to Ireland" party. You have to be at the Green Briar for the drawing in order to win, and the capacity is only 350. So, your odds are actually pretty good. There are also a bunch of other ways on social media to beef up those odds. (Check the event page for details.)
Then, there's Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino partnering with Fame4Good.com to give away a 2-day trip to Spring training next weekend. You don't have to go anywhere to enter this contest. Anyone who donates at least $1 through March 17 is automatically entered. The campaign will raise money and awareness for the Shane Victorino Foundation, which benefits underprivileged children.
And if you don't have any luck getting out of town, there are a few consolation prizes.

And for fans looking for a taste of Iceland, THE Taste of Iceland is being held in Boston from March 14-18. It showcases Icelandic music, celebrity chefs and Iceland culture, and includes a free Reykjavik Calling Concert on Saturday night at the Middle East in Cambridge.
