Four BU Students Spend 3 Nights In Jail For Frat Party That Violated Probation
BOSTON (CBS) -- Four Boston University students spent three tough nights in a Boston lock-up for allegedly partying too much.
It was a judge's response to a raging party police said they had at their fraternity house last month after already being arrested for another big bash in September.
Friday they stood with their hands covering their faces, as a judge let them know they could finally walk free.
"They were prepared to go to classes Wednesday morning and instead they were in the Nashua Street jail I've never seen it happen before," said defense attorney David Yannetti.
Michael Oldcorn, Terry Bartrug and John Pavia, all 20, and 19-year-old Sawyer Petrick live at 85 Linden St. in Allston.
They were arrested back in September after a party where police said they found hundreds of students, many of them under the legal drinking age.
The four were on probation when police were called to a second party with hundreds of students at their house Jan. 28.
Police found more than 1,000 beer cans at the frat house. That's when the judge revoked their bail to teach them a lesson.
The ordeal brought their parents to Boston from overseas. "London, Paris, and Milan," explained Oldcorn's mother.
Pavia's father is a Connecticut attorney. "Right now the focus is getting these kids back to school and then getting them caught up on their studies," he said as his son left court.
A Boston University spokesperson told WBZ the students will face disciplinary hearings.
The fraternity, Zeta Beta Tau, has been suspended.
