Webster Police Find Owner Of Dog Abandoned At Gas Station

WEBSTER (CBS) -- Police have found the owner of a dog that was abandoned Sunday afternoon at a local gas station.

At about 5:30 p.m., passers-by noticed the dog tied up at the Sunoco station on Main Street. The Good Samaritans took the dog, which was barely moving, and put the pooch in their car to warm up, the police said in a prepared statement.

The dog was placed in the custody of Webster animal control.

At about 10 p.m., police reported the dog's owners had been found:  "The owners have been located and a suspect has been identified," the police said in an email message.
