Dump Truck Plows Through Guard Rail, Into Water Along I-93 In Boston

BOSTON (CBS) --- State Police were on the scene of a dump truck roll-over off Route 93 north near the Dorchester Yacht Club. The crash happened at about 10 a.m. Monday morning, and two lanes were closed until about 6:45 p.m.

Check: Traffic

The truck appears to have crashed through the guard rail, down an embankment and into the water off Malibu Beach.

Police say the driver sustained minor injuries.

The crash left the truck on the water's edge, and fluids began leaking into Dorchester Bay. "The truck's diesel tank was not ruptured, but other fluids did leak out like oil and brake fluid," said Steve McDonald of the Boston Fire Department. "We brought in some booms, to contain the fluids as best we could."

Environmental Police and Mass DOT are on scene assisting with the cleanup. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The truck is owned by Mobile Excavating of Medway. Records indicate they haven't had a crash in over two years.
