After Practicing With Red Claws, Rondo Recalled By Celtics
BOSTON (CBS) - Rajon Rondo's brief stint with the Maine Red Claws has come to and end.
Less than two hours after he was assigned to Boston's NBA Development League affiliate, the point guard was recalled by the Celtics.
In the release announcing Rondo had been assigned to Maine, Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge called it a "brief assignment."
"Rajon is progressing terrifically in his rehab and this is the next step," said Ainge. "This is a brief assignment so that Rajon can participate in a workout this afternoon with the Red Claws and he will be called back up to the Celtics upon the conclusion of the workout."

Rondo, who has been out since last January after tearing his ACL, sent out a cryptic Tweet on Monday hinting that he could return Friday night when the Celtics host the Los Angeles Lakers. He said earlier this season that he may join the Red Claws for a couple of games, in hopes of knocking off any lingering rust and getting some in-game action prior to his return.
But it turns out Wednesday's practice with the Maine, which reportedly took place in Boston, is likely Rondo's final tune-up before returning to the Celtics lineup.
