Sutton Man Faces Homicide Charge In Woman's Beating Death

SUTTON (CBS) -- A 49-year-old man has been charged with the beating death Saturday night of the woman with whom he was living, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office reported.

At 10:34 p.m. Saturday, Sutton Police were dispatched to 30 Torrey Road after a 911 call from the suspect, Thomas Starefos. The responding officers found Colleen Butler, 60, dead the home, according to a prepared statement from Worcester County DA Joseph D. Early Jr.

Starefos was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with manslaughter and domestic assault and battery. The Sutton man will be arraigned in Uxbridge District Court.

Butler's death is being investigated by Sutton Police and state police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney's Office.
