Reward Offered After Taunton Cat Is Shot By Pellet Gun

TAUNTON (CBS) – A reward is being offered for anyone with information about who shot a cat with a pellet gun in Taunton.

Midnight the cat was limping when she turned up on her owners' doorstep on Sunday October 13. She had been missing for a day.

"They had to sedate her, x-ray her. They called me a few hours later and said she had multiple fractures in her front right paw, her leg," the cat's owner Sarah Parker said.

Parker says her family is stunned that someone would do this to a cat.

"Just about everyone in this neighborhood has a cat or a dog. They've always been safe," she said.

The cat still has a metal pellet lodged under her skin, and will require surgery to repair the leg.

Friends of the Parker family have stepped in and begun raising money to cover that cat's medical bills and also raise money for the reward, something Sarah Parker said she was surprised by and grateful for.

"I never thought to ask for help, but we really appreciate it because her medical bills are going to be well over $4,000," she said.
