Woman Accused Of Selling Drugs To Driver Before Fatal Hampton, NH Crash

HAMPTON, NH (CBS) – A second woman has been arrested in connection with a crash that killed two cyclists in Hampton, New Hampshire last weekend.

Police say 48-year-old Cindy Sheppard sold a "controlled drug" to 19-year-old Darriean Hess and then allowed her to operate a car knowing she was not licensed to drive.

Hess is accused of crashing into four bicyclists who were on an organized ride in Hampton on Saturday morning. She is currently being held on $50,000 cash bail.

Hours before the crash, Hess had been pulled over by police for speeding and cited for not having a license and was picked up by a friend. But then she apparently hit the road again and hit the cyclists, killing Pam Wells and Elise Bouchard, and injuring Uwe Uhmeyer and Margo Heigh.

Sheppard is being held on $10,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
