Ex-Head Of FBI Boston Office Facing Ethics Charge

BOSTON (AP) — The former head of the Boston's FBI office has been charged with violating ethics laws by having professional contact with former colleagues within a year of leaving government service.

The acting U.S. attorney for Connecticut announced Thursday that Kenneth Kaiser of Hopkinton has been charged with making prohibited post-employment contacts.

The 57-year-old Kaiser was special agent in charge of the FBI's Boston office from 2003 until December 2006, when he left to become an assistant director at FBI headquarters in Washington.

Prosecutors say within a year of retiring from the FBI in July 2009 and going to work for a private company, Kaiser had professional contact electronically, via telephone and in person with FBI agents investigating the company he worked for.

A message was left at a listed number for Kaiser.
