10-Year-Old Boy Struck By Freight Train In Fitchburg

FITCHBURG (CBS) - A 10-year-old boy suffered critical injuries when he was hit by a freight train on Friday in Fitchburg, Transit police said.

Officials say the boy, who was not identified, was trespassing on the tracks near the Fitcbburg Commuter Rail Station when he has hit by a Pan AM Railways train.

Fitchburg police the injuries were to the boy's leg and foot.

He was flown to UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester. His condition was not known.

Transit Police detectives are currently investigating the incident.
