SOUTH BOSTON (CBS) – A condo owner in South Boston is now being fined $25 a day for hanging an American flag in his window.

The flag violates the FP3 Condo Association’s policy of “white curtains only” in building windows.

The fines started Tuesday, but Mark DiGiovanni responded by hanging up a second flag in another window.

He blames lawyers for the mess.

“We’ve left it to lawyers to codify every aspect of our lives,” he told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

“This is the train wreck that happens when you try to codify every aspect of our lives.”

He says he should have the right to put the flag in his window.

“It would be easier for me to burn it in the street than hang it in my window,” DiGiovanni told WBZ.
